What is Walk With Christ?

Walk With Christ is the annual Eucharistic Procession that traditionally takes place in the Sydney CBD on the Feast of Corpus Christi (The Body and Blood of Christ). The procession travels through the streets of Sydney and culminates with prayer and Benediction at St Mary’s Cathedral forecourt. This extraordinary event engages thousands of Catholics of all ages and backgrounds. It revives a rich Catholic tradition of public faith demonstration through procession and festival.

Walk With Christ provides an opportunity for participants to pray for the many needs of the city, to strengthen their Catholic identity and most importantly, to affirm their faith in the Eucharist. Bishop Julian Porteous, former Episcopal Vicar for Evangelisation and Renewal, Archbishop of Hobart, summarises Walk With Christ in these words:

The procession is an opportunity for us to give a public witness to the fact that Christ wants to be with us until the end of time, and the way he has expressed this is by being truly present in the Blessed Eucharist.
